Liz and Royal Robbins are a remarkable couple who designed remarkable, innovative clothing. They followed a trail that began in Yosemite as climbing pioneers, and led to the creation of an exceptional outdoor & travel clothing line.

Royal Robbins is an internationally acclaimed climber and kayaker who, with his wife and partner Liz, founded this outdoor clothing company over 30 years ago. Together they tackled ground-breaking (no pun intended!) ascents of difficult Yosemite climbs, taught skiing and climbing, and opened a climbing school. But the couple couldn't find the right clothing in which to explore, so in 1975 Liz decided to design her own. Her creation was the Billy Goat Hiking Short, still our number one style, a classic design of enduring popularity.

The success of the Billy Goat Short evolved into a complete line of travel clothing, including shirts, shorts and pants, that they named Go Everywhere, reflecting their passion for traveling and exploring. Drawing on the strength of their renowned and respected name, Royal and Liz christened their clothing company Royal Robbins in 1981. Together they had a vision: to enhance the lives of their customers and make the world a better place through comfortable, rugged, clothing that fits well and looks great.

Liz and Royal wanted an inspirational environment in which to work. At Royal Robbins, each Team Member flourishes not only at their job, but also through outdoor adventure. Royal Robbins supports many environmental causes, is a model company for recycling, and has each employee devote time to community service.
